Have you ever had a toothache?
In Vanuatu, as with many countries in the SW Pacific, toothache is sadly all too common. For example, as the findings of the 2017 National Oral Health Survey
revealed amongst 5–7-year-olds:
➢ 70% had tooth decay
➢ 79% had bleeding gums
➢ 10% had recently suffered tooth ache
➢ 20% needed urgent treatment now
There are no prizes for guessing that the adoption of a sugar-rich diet and failure to brush regularly, are the main causes of the disturbing results highlighted above.
By donating, or buying a “Give a Smile” Gudfala Tut Paste sample pack, you become a Vanuatu Tooth Buddy.
After all, for just $12, one child can participate in the Gudfala Smile Preschool supervised brushing program for a whole year.

The GOOD NEWS is that supervised brushing of teeth in schools
and oral health training for registered nurses
IS starting to make a difference

It’s a simple thing … brushing your teeth each day … but as we all know, the earlier the habit is established, the greater the chance it will last a lifetime.
While the cost of implementing supervised tooth brushing in schools and preschools is relatively small, the lifetime health and economic savings to each person, and ultimately the country, are big; in fact, massive. And this doesn’t count the individual pain and suffering amongst both children and adults caused by toothache.
Thank you so much for your support of this grassroots, Vanuatu-owned initiative. By becoming a Vanuatu Tooth Buddy, you are changing lives and making a gift that can literally last a lifetime.
